Family run business

We are a family-run business that has diversified from farming into Tipper & Plant Hire. Teward Bros Ltd is run by owner Jeffrey Teward and his wife Roz with help from their children Helen, 21, Stephen, 18 and a team of professional staff in the office, workshops, operating plant and driving wagons. Jeffrey first began diversifying in the 1990s with one JCB 3CX himself, before expanding into a few excavators and a wagon, which he operated from the family farm in Baldersdale – the Teward family having farmed in Baldersdale since 1961 and in Upper Teesdale for at least 3 or 4 generations before that.

As the business grew, the business relocated down the dale to Staindrop in 2006 to reduce travel miles and wagon emissions. This remains the head office for the business and the main service depot for the plant and wagon fleet.

The business further expanded with the opening of an additional depot in Darlington for skip hire and recycling, with over 1000 skips and waste transfer station in 2013, operating as Teward Recycling.

The fleet continues to grow every year as we continually invest to ensure our equipment and service is to a high standard. We have grown to 400 items of plant and 50 tipper wagons.
